PM Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) has been launched by the central government. The main objective of this scheme is to empower women and provide them financial assistance. Under this scheme, women will be given assistance of ₹ 11000 by the government. Pregnant and lactating women will get benefits under this scheme. PM Matru Vandana Yojana 2024-25
Prime Minister Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) is an important scheme launched by the Government of India. It aims to provide financial assistance to pregnant women and lactating mothers so that they can meet their nutritional and health needs. The main focus of this scheme in 2024 is to support financially weak and needy women. The objective of this scheme is to encourage pregnant women to take nutritious diet and proper health care so that maternal and infant mortality rate can be reduced.
The objective of PM Matru Vandana Yojana
PM Matru Vandana Yojana is a national scheme run by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. This scheme was mainly launched to provide financial assistance to pregnant and lactating women. The aim of this scheme is to fulfil the nutritional needs of women and take care of their health. This scheme is especially beneficial for pregnant women who are becoming mothers for the first time. Under the PM Matru Vandana Yojana, financial assistance of up to ₹5,000 is provided in three instalments:
- 1. First instalment: After registration in the first 3 months of pregnancy.
- 2. Second instalment: On completion of antenatal check-up.
- 3. Third instalment: On birth of the child and completion of all its vaccinations.

Benefits of PM Matru Vandana yojna
- The benefits of this scheme will especially be available to those pregnant women who are becoming mothers for the first time.
- Under this scheme, a benefit of Rs 5,000 is given for the first child.
- The benefit of this scheme is given in two instalments, the first instalment of Rs 3,000 is given after prenatal check-up and the second instalment of Rs 2,000 is given after the birth of the child and 14 weeks of universal delivery.
- Under the PM Matru Vandana Yojana, women will receive the money directly in their bank account.
Eligibility criteria
- Women who are pregnant for the first time.
- If a woman is the mother of a girl child, then she can be eligible for PM Matru Vandana Yojana.
- The woman should not be an employee of the central or state government.
- The woman should have an Aadhaar card.
- The woman’s family should be financially unstable.
- To avail the benefits under this scheme, Aadhaar of the beneficiary’s husband is not mandatory.

- Step 1: To apply online for PM Matru Vandana Yojana, eligible applicants should visit the official website.
- Step 2: After visiting the homepage, the applicant will have to click on the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana option.
- Step 3: Scroll to the end of the page and click on the form download option. The applicant has to submit the form to the concerned Anganwadi authorities.
- Step 4: While submitting the form, the beneficiary has to submit his/her Aadhaar details, his/her spouse/family member’s mobile number and his/her bank/post office account details along with his/her written consent.
