NAPS Benefits
The Government of India’s “National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme” (NAPS) provides stipends and shares the cost of basic training with a goal of training 50 lakh students from the Financial Year 2016-17 to 2019-20. The following are the financial support elements under NAPS in detail:
- Stipend assistance: repayment of 25% of the prescribed stipend up to Rs 1500/- per month per apprentice with employers. Fresher apprentices will not receive stipend support during their basic training sessions.
- Basic Training Cost Sharing: Rs7500/- for a maximum of 3 months or 500 hours in the case of apprentices who come straight to apprenticeship training without any formal trade training. The federal government is not providing any additional financial aid to the states to help them implement NAPS more effectively.

National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme Eligibility Criteria
