• The National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) is a nationally funded program that provides skill training to ITI students, freshmen, MES graduates, and PMKVY applicants.
• State and centrally authorized courses, such as PMKVY, DDU-GKY, and others, must be linked to apprenticeship training.

NAPS Benefits

The Government of India’s “National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme” (NAPS) provides stipends and shares the cost of basic training with a goal of training 50 lakh students from the Financial Year 2016-17 to 2019-20. The following are the financial support elements under NAPS in detail:

• Stipend assistance: repayment of 25% of the prescribed stipend up to Rs 1500/- per month per apprentice with employers. Fresher apprentices will not receive stipend support during their basic training sessions.
• Basic Training Cost Sharing: Rs7500/- for a maximum of 3 months or 500 hours in the case of apprentices who come straight to apprenticeship training without any formal trade training. The federal government is not providing any additional financial aid to the states to help them implement NAPS more effectively.

National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme Eligibility Criteria 

Applicants who want to apply for the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) must fulfill the eligibility criteria put forward by the Central Government of India. The eligibility criteria for National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) are given in the table below: 

1. For Apprentices

• Apprentices need to register on the portal
• Apprentices must have an Aadhar number
• Applicants must fulfill all the requirements of the apprentice’s act 
• Apprentice must have a minimum age limit of 14 years

2. For Employers

• The employees need to register on the apprenticeship portal
• The Employer must have a TIN / TAN number
• The employer must have EPFO / ESIC / FACTORY / COOPERATIVE / MSME registration number
• Employers must have an Aadhar linked to the bank account
• Employers must engage apprentices in a band of 2.5% to 10% of the total strength of the establishment

3. For Basic Training Providers

• Basic Training Providers need to register on the portal
• Basic Training Providers must have an Aadhar link bank account
• They must be physically verified by RDAT
