BharatNet Scheme 2023
The Indian Government has been taking effective steps to promote Digital wellbeing in India for a really long time and that’s why the Government has created Bharat Net scheme for the year 2021. Through the implementation of this scheme, the government will provide high-speed connectivity to the rural areas and more than 60 thousand villages will be connected with the internet by the end of 2021 as per the preparations made under this scheme. Internet access will be provided in villages across India at a very low price and all of the students will be able to take advantage of the internet without much difficulty. The scheme was approved on 30th June 2021.

Objectives Of BharatNet Scheme
For the successful implementation of the scheme more than Rupees 30000 crores have been sanctioned and this scheme will be launched in partnership with private sector companies in order to make it more efficient and grand so that each and every village in India will be able to get internet connectivity. Bharat Broadband Network Limited will be providing affordable broadband connectivity of 2 MBPS to 20 MBPS internet speed to all of the beneficiaries. The students present all across India will be able to pursue their education by getting internet facilities. Many remote villages will be covered under the scheme and they will be able to connect themselves with the world.
BharatNet Scheme Features
There are many features of this scheme presented by the Government and some of them are listed below:-
- The scheme was launched by the Government of India through Bharat Broadband Network Limited.
- This scheme was originally launched in the year 2011.
- 6 lakh villages in the country will be connected with optical fibre by the end of August 2023 as per the goals made under the development of this scheme.
- The scheme will be implemented in 16 different states present in India and all of these States will be provided internet connectivity with fibres.
- More than Rupees 29000 crore have been approved for the implementation of this scheme and around 2.5 lakh gram panchayats of the country will be connected with optical fibres by the end of 2021 under this scheme.
BharatNet Scheme Implementation Procedure
The scheme will be implemented based on the following implementation procedure:-
- In the first phase of the scheme, the Government provided one lakh gram panchayats with broadband connectivity by laying underground optic fibre cable (OFC) lines by December 2017.
- In the second phase of the scheme, the Government provided connectivity to all the gram panchayats in the country using an optimal mix of underground fibre, fibre over power lines, radio and satellite media. It was completed by March 2019.
- In the third phase of the scheme, from 2019 to 2023, a state-of-the-art, future-proof network, including fibre between districts and blocks, with ring topology to provide redundancy would be created.
