The Central Equipment Identity Register offers a Know Your Mobile (KYM) service. This service also allows you to test mobile gadgets before you buy them. If the mobile number is blocked, duplicated, or already in use, don’t buy it. The following three approaches can be utilized to employ KYM:

To track the lost phones, the candidate needs to follow the below-given steps: 

  • First of all, the candidate will need to file an FIR in the name of the candidate’s mobile phone.
  • After lodging an FIR, the police will verify the details.
  • Once the verification is successfully done, the police will provide an FIR copy to the candidate.
  • After that, the candidate will need to inform DoT via a helpline number i.e., 14422
  • Finally, the DoT will then blacklist the IMEI number.

The candidate who has lost his / her mobile phone or is stolen must apply for blocking the mobile phone through the ceir.gov.in Portal. The steps to block the lost mobile phones are as follows:

Once the stolen or lost mobile phone is recovered, candidates can unblock the device through the CEIR portal online to reuse the phone. Follow the below-given steps to unblock the phone:
