Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana 2023
On 25th June 2015, the Government of India launched Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Through this scheme, the interest subsidy is provided on home loans up to Rs 2.67 lakh. This scheme will be implemented by the ministry of housing and urban affairs. With the help of this scheme urban housing shortage among economically weaker sections, lower-income group and middle-income group categories will be addressed by ensuring pucca houses to all the eligible beneficiaries. The government expects to provide housing to all by the year 2022. A demand-driven approach has been adopted under PMAY where the shortage of houses is decided based on the assessment of demand by the states and union territories.
