Objective of Abhinandan Education Loan Subsidy Scheme 2.0
The primary objective of this scheme is to reduce the financial burden on students and their families by providing subsidies on education loans. This will help ensure that students can continue their education without worrying about tuition and other educational expenses.
Through this scheme, the government will provide a subsidy of Rs 50,000 on education loans to the residents of the state of Assam. To get the benefit of the scheme, you must have a minimum education loan balance of Rs 2 lakh.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be a permanent resident of Assam state.
- Only loans with an amount of ₹2 lakh or more are eligible.
- The bank should be recognized by the Reserve Bank of India.
- There is no income criteria present in this scheme.
Loan Amount
To be eligible for the scheme’s benefits, you must have a minimum education debt balance of Rs 2 lakh.

Announcement Date
The Assam government announced the scheme on 20 august 2024 and is set to launch the 2nd edition of the Scheme on September 5.
Benefits of Abhinandan Education Loan Subsidy Scheme 2.0
- Eligible students can avail a subsidy of up to ₹50,000 on their education loan.
- All the permanent residents of the state of Assam who want to pursue higher education are eligible, whether inside or outside the state.
- For loans authorised between April 1, 2020, and March 31, 2024, the program provides loan subsidies to help students achieve their goals of pursuing higher education.
- The government provides subsidy for education loans taken by eligible students, subsidy helps in reducing the financial burden by reducing the effective cost of the loan.

Selection Process
- All students who are permanent residents and wish to pursue higher education inside or outside the state of Assam are eligible. To be eligible for the benefits of the scheme, you must have a minimum education loan balance of Rs 2 lakh.
- Children of currently serving public officials, including MPs, MLAs, Panchayat officials, and permanent staff members in the government or government-owned enterprises, are ineligible.
- Each beneficiary may only receive the benefit once.
