The Tamil Nadu State Government has recently launched the Dr.Muthulakshmi Maternity Benefit Scheme 2025. Through this scheme, the government will make efforts to reduce the maternal and infant mortality rate in the state and provide the best possible nutrition to lactating and pregnant women. Under this scheme, the state government will provide nutrition kits costing Rs 4,000 to pregnant women and Amma Nutrition Kit along with cash assistance of Rs 14,000. This program aims to help around 8 lakh pregnant and lactating women every year.
What is Dr.Muthulakshmi Maternity Benefit Scheme?
Under the Dr. Muthulakshmi Maternity Benefit Scheme, pregnant mothers enrolled in PICME can avail benefits that give them access to quality healthcare during their pregnancy. The Tamil Nadu state government will provide cash assistance of up to Rs 18,000 to pregnant women under this program. The first amount of Rs 4,000 will be given to every pregnant mother through this scheme and after the birth of the baby, the mother will be given a second amount of Rs 4,000. After the child receives the third dose of DPT, hepatitis and polio vaccines, the mother will get the third installment of Rs 4,000.

The Objective of Dr.Muthulakshmi Maternity Benefit Scheme
The main objective of introducing Dr.Muthulakshmi Maternity Benefit Scheme is to provide financial assistance to pregnant women and lactating mothers, so that they can take proper care of themselves and their child. Under the scheme, various facilities and financial assistance are provided to the beneficiaries so that they can have safe delivery in the hospital and the newborn baby can get the necessary vaccination and care. Apart from the kit, the government will provide Rs 14,000 to the mother in five installments. The Amma Nutrition Kit worth Rs 4,000 includes various essential items like one kg prenatal health mix, three T. albendazole, one kg dates, 500 gm protein biscuits, 500 gm Aavin ghee, three T. albendazole, a plastic basket and a towel.

Eligibility Criteria
- Pregnant women who are at least 19 years old can take advantage of this scheme.
- Under this scheme, the first and fifth installments will be given to migrant mothers and widowed mothers under special circumstances.

Application Process For the Dr.Muthulakshmi Maternity Benefit Scheme 2025
- First you will have to visit the PICME Portal or register your pregnancy with a VHN or UHN to apply for Tamil Nadu’s Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy Maternity Benefit Scheme.
- Use the PICME Portal or a VHN or UHN to Register your pregnancy.
- Collect all the Required Documents and visit any CSC (Common Service Centre).
- Complete the biometric Verification Process.
- Complete the Application Form by entering all the Required Details.
- After entering all the Required Details, upload the Required Documents along with the Application Form.
- After submitting the Application Form, get the receipt or acknowledgement from the CSC.

- First you will have to visit the official PICME Tamil Nadu website.
- Now select the “Application ID Status” option on the homepage.
- When you register again, a new page will appear asking for your PICME Number or Registration ID.
- Then enter each detail carefully.
- To enter your information, click on the Submit button once your ID Registration is complete.
- Your Pre-Registration ID Status will appear on your screen.
- Once your request is processed, the status of your PICME Number will appear on the screen.
