Objectives Of Kerala Sahayahastham Scheme
The main objective of the implementation of this scheme is to provide interest-free loans to the self-help groups of women present across the Kerala state and providing them an interest-free long period of repayment. The women will be able to repay their loan within the time period of three years without any extra interest because all of the interest amounts will be paid by the State Government to the bank directly. The women will be able to continue with their self-help groups without having to worry about the financial experience that they will have to pay from their pocket. The main objective of the scheme is to provide an opportunity to the people to continue with their career which has been destroyed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Scheme Benefits
The Kerala Sahayahastham scheme will benefit over 22.77 women. The people who have lost their main source of income due to the spread of the coronavirus pandemic will also be able to get the benefit of this scheme. The women will be able to take loans ranging from Rupees 5000 to Rupees 20000 under this scheme and 9% interest will be charged by the banks which will be only paid by the Kerala State Government and the beneficiaries will not have to pay any interest amount on their loans and they can only repay the principal amount. Around Rupees, 2,000 crores have been allocated for the development of this scheme by the Kerala State Government. The repayment period of the loan will start after 6 months of its allocation.
Implementation Of Kerala Sahayahastham Scheme
The simple implementation procedure for the scheme is as follows:
- The repayment starts six months after the sanction and has to be completed in three years.
- The loan amount to a group member ranges between Rs 5,000 and Rs 20,000.
- Kudumbashree executive director S Harikishore said the disbursal of funds which was started in April is nearing completion.
- There are nearly three lakh neighbourhood groups under the Kudumbashree having an average loan size of Rs 4.5 lakh.
- The repayment rate is over 98%
- Among the districts, Thiruvananthapuram tops the list where 2.9 lakh members of nearly 24,000 groups availed themselves of the loans, followed by Thrissur with 2.56 lakh members and 20,500 groups.
Eligibility Criteria
The applicant must follow the following eligibility criteria to apply for the scheme:-
- The applicant must be a legal and permanent resident of the Kerala state
- The age limit of Destitute widows must be below 55 years
- She must be working in a women self-help group.
- The annual income of the beneficiaries must be below 1 lakh.
- She must have a working bank account.
- The Project will be started alone or in connection with SHG groups. (maximum 10 beneficiaries from a district )
