Two types of pensions will be provided under this scheme. The pension will only be provided to the widow women. The financial assistance will be directly transferred to the bank account of the beneficiary so the beneficiary must have a bank account that is linked to their Aadhaar.

Objective Of The Scheme

There are many objectives of the widow pension Yojana and some of them are mentioned below:-

The scheme will be helping the poor widow women to pay their financial expenses without having to worry about them.
The widow women will be able to get financial stability after the death of their spouse and they will be able to pay their bills without depending on anyone.
The scheme will be run by the state government of the respective state so that the widow women will not have to give any application fees to apply for this prestigious scheme and they will just have to fill up the application form.
The application form is also available at the official platform presented by the authorities to take up the procedures related to this scheme so that the women will not have to go here and there in order to fill up the application form.

New Addition To Vidhwa Pension Yojana

Various states of India implement the widow pension scheme and some of the new additions in the scheme according to the various states are given below:-

In the Haryana state, Rupees 2250 per month will be provided to the beneficiaries and to apply for this scheme in the Haryana state, the annual family income of the Women must be not more than Rupees 200000. The beneficiary must also not be a part of any other government welfare scheme if they want to take the benefit of this scheme. You will also have to submit your husband’s death certificate before taking the benefit of this scheme. The age of the applicant must be 18 years and more.
The Uttar Pradesh government has also started this vidhwa pension scheme under which they are providing Rupees 300 per month to the beneficiaries. The amount is directly transferred to the bank account of the beneficiaries.
In Maharashtra state, Rupees 600 pension is provided to the beneficiaries and if the women have more than one child in the family then the family will get Rupees 900 per month as a pension.
The Government of Rajasthan state provides Rupees 500 per month to the beneficiaries of age less than 55 years. For women aged more than 55 years, Rupees 750 is provided and for women ageing more than 60 years Rupees thousand is provided. For women above the age of 75 years, Rupees 1500 per month is provided and the annual income of the beneficiary must not be above Rupees 48000.
The Central Government has also started the Indira Gandhi widow pension scheme under which Rupees 300 is provided as a pension and only the women who are above the age of 40 years and below the age of 59 years can apply for this scheme. This scheme is only available for the BPL beneficiaries.

The vidhwa Pension Yojana will be developed separately by each of the states present in the country so that equal opportunities are provided to the beneficiaries across the country rather than the beneficiaries only selected by the central government.

Eligibility Criteria

Only widowed women will be considered eligible under this scheme.
Widow women should be between 18 to 60 years.
If the applicant has remarried after the death of the husband, then she will not get any benefit from this scheme.
If the children of the widow are not adults or if they are adults but are not able to take care of their mother, then the woman will get a pension. And if a widow is not an adult then she will not be eligible to get the pension.
