A central level  scheme is called Swadesh Darshan. It was implemented in 2014- 2015 by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture of the Indian Government. High tourist value, competitiveness, and sustainability integration principles will be used to create these tourist modules. fifteen Thematic modules have been designated by the Swadesh Darshan for development.

Swadesh Darshan Tourist Circuit

A tourism circuit is a designated area with distinct entry and departure points that will provide a memorable journey for visitors. It will be set up in three locations throughout a city or municipality. The focus of theme-based tourist circuits nowadays spans a wide range of topics, including those related to religion, culture, ethnicity specialisation, etc. These circuits are mostly intended to excite tourists.

Swadesh Darshan Special Circuit

  • Buddha Circuit: The Buddha Circuit includes the most important pilgrimage locations for Buddhist travellers. The states covered include Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh.
  • Coastal Circuit: The Coastal Circuit will enhance India’s status as the “Land of Sun, Sea, and Surf. it is  made up of the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, and others. The coastal circuit also includes Andaman and Nicobar Island.
  • Desert Circuit: The desert circuit is a specialised tourist route in India that draws tourists from all over the world.  Many visitors also travel to the dry plains of Kutch, the dry dunes of the Thar Desert, and the cold, dry slopes of Ladakh and Himachal.
  • Eco Circuit: The Eco Circuit aims to strengthen the bond between tourists and nature. The states covered include Kerala, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Mizoram, and Jharkhand.
  • Heritage Circuit: India is endowed with a rich and active heritage and culture. This circuit includes the states of Rajasthan, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Puducherry, Punjab, Uttrakhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Telangana.
  • Himalayan Circuit: The Himalayan Circuit strategically encloses the whole length of the nation’s northern border in recognition of the Indian Himalayan Region. The Indian Himalayan Region includes states like Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and the North-East.
  • Sufi Circuit: This circuit in India aims to respect the country’s long-standing Sufi traditions. The Sufi Tradition, as well as Sufi saints, are still revered in the country today for their teachings on the way to intergroup peace, unity in diversity
  • Krishna Circuit: Travel to the Krishna Circuit has always been associated with Indian religion. The Krishna Circuit’s primary objective is to develop the areas associated with Lord Krishna’s stories across several states, particularly Haryana and Rajasthan.

  • Himalayan Circuit: The Himalayan Circuit was established in honour of the Indian Spiritual Circuit. The states that the spiritual circuit is emphasising include Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Bihar, Rajasthan, and Puducherry.
  • Tirthankar Circuit: The Tirthankar circuit strives to improve all of the tourist attractions, from cuisine and crafts to a distinctive and unique architectural style.
