The Labor and Employment Department is the Nodal Department for enforcing the Building and Other Construction Acts, which were implemented to monitor and control the employment and conditions of service of building and other construction workers, as well as to make provisions for their safety, health, and welfare, etc. The Building and Other Construction Workers (RE&CS) Act was implemented to regulate the business and administration of building and other construction workers. It also takes into account their well-being, government support programs, and other factors. The B & OCWW Cess Act has been enacted to accommodate the duty and collection of Cess at the expense of development work to increase the assets required for the Orissa Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board to give government aid to development laborers.
