Objectives Of WB Bangla Shasya Bima Yojana
The farmers of the West Bengal State will be able to get proper benefits if their crops are lost due to natural calamities which are very common in their area. The farmers will not have to pay any premium amount in order to get the benefit of the Insurance Scheme presented by the Government because the premium will be given by the State Government on their own. Many different districts are covered under this scheme and all of the farmers present in those districts will be able to take the benefit of the scheme by filling up the application form.

Features Of Bangla Shasya Bima Yojana
There are many features of the scheme presented by the West Bengal Government and some of the features are mentioned below:-
- The premium amount will be fully paid by the State Government to develop this scheme.
- The insurance will be provided under this scheme on the following occasions-
- For any losses suffered during planting
- Losses suffered during cultivation
- The losses occurred during the period post-cutting when crops are lying in the field
- Losses caused due to adverse weather situations.
- The premium bonus will be phased out in a period of 5 years, subject to analysis of the financial results and the reply of the farmers at the end of the 1st year of the implementation of the Scheme.

Eligible Criteria
- The farmer must be a resident of West Bengal with a verified home address inside the state.
- The applicant must either own the agricultural property or have a legal leasing arrangement in place to cultivate the land throughout the crop season.
- The farmer must be farming suitable crops under the Bangla Shasya Bima Yojana. The state government may change the list of covered crops from time to time.
- According to the scheme requirements, the farmer’s cultivated area must be within the stated limitations.
- The farmer must pay the appropriate premium for insurance coverage within the time frame stipulated.

The following districts are covered to get the benefit of the Insurance Scheme presented by the West Bengal Government:-
- Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Purba Bardhaman, Paschim Bardhaman, Purba Medinipur, Malda, Hooghly, Nadia, Murshidabad, Cooch Behar, Birbhum, Purulia, Dakshin Dinajpur, North 24 Parganas, and South 24 Parganas.
