To be a single mother, Unwed mother, husband’s abandoned woman, divorced women and women who are not with their husband is the biggest task to perform day to day life activities and if they are a mother of a physically or mentally challenged child then it is the most difficult task to perform. So to help this type of women’s the Social Justice Department of the Government of Kerala introduced the Kerala Swasraya Scheme 2023 for the women of Kerala. Single mothers or caretakers of physically challenged or mentally challenged children can’t work as they have to take care of the child and perform household work. So the government will provide them financial support to make them self-dependent or self-employed.
Kerala Swasraya Scheme 2023
The Government of Kerala always launched schemes for their citizens to provide them financial support for medical treatment free of cost. Now the Government of Kerala launched another scheme for single mothers or caretakers to provide them financial assistance for their physically challenged or mentally challenged children. Aswasakiranam offers rupees 525 as a pension to the families but this amount is not enough for a child’s medical treatment and to perform at the day to day life activities. In Kerala Swasraya Scheme the single mother is provided with one-time assistance of rupees 35,000. The families who belong to the BPL can only apply for this scheme.

Objectives of Kerala Swasraya Scheme
- The main objective of the Kerala Swasraya Scheme is to help the needy single mothers of physically challenged and mentally challenged children.
- The Government of Kerala will provide financial assistance of rupees 35000 to parents of physically challenged and mentally challenged children for the medical treatment and other day to day life activities.
- The caretaker or parent who is eligible to get benefits under the scheme will receive this amount only one time and no one can get the benefit twice.

Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant should be a permanent citizen of Kerala.
- The candidate should belong to the below poverty line families.
- The scheme is applicable only for those who are having children with at least 70% or more physical disability or mental disability.
- The beneficiary amount is given to the single mother of the children.
- The close relatives who act as a caretaker of the physically disabled or mentally challenged patient can also apply for the scheme.
- Single/unwed mothers/ legally divorce women can take advantage under the scheme.
- The candidate should be required to submit a report about their self employment to the district Social Justice office.

- First visit to the official website of the Social Justice Department.
- Now the home page will appear on your screen.
- On the homepage click on the scheme tab.
- Then a page will appear on your screen where you have to select the swarasya scheme option.
- Now a page will appear on your screen, then scroll down to the last option and click on the Application form for Swasraya scheme tab.
- The PDF file will appear on your screen where you have to click on the download button.
- The form will be downloaded on your device and take a printout.
- After that, fill out the form and attach all the required documents.
- Then submitted to the department of Social Justice Department.
