What is the PAN Card 2.0 project?
The Income Tax Department’s PAN 2.0 project was approved by the Union Cabinet on Monday (26 November). Under this project the existing PAN system will be completely upgraded wherein all the new and old cards will incorporate a QR code, the IT infrastructure will be revamped and PAN will be made a common business identifier for all digital systems of specified government agencies.

Furthermore, the PAN 2.0 project aims to establish a unified portal with a “mandatory PAN data vault system” for all entities using PAN data.
