Mamta Banerjee’s Government comes up with another scheme for ensuring the social justice & security of the women of West Bengal. The name of the scheme is West Bangal Lakshmi Bhandar Scheme. This scheme has been launched for the women of the state. Also, this scheme was a part of the election manifesto of the All India Trinamool Congress. The government is going to provide financial assistance to the women head of the families to complete their basic needs. WB Lakshmi Bhandar Scheme 2023
To support the women& making them self-dependent, the government has started various initiatives. WB Lakshmi Bhandar Scheme is one of those initiatives of the West Bengal state government. Many households are there in the state are not able to meet their day-to-day expenditures because of a lack of basic income support. Under this scheme, the government is going to give a monthly income of Rs. 1000/- to the women of SC/ST category & Rs. 500/- per month to the women of the General category who are eligible for this scheme.

WB Lakshmi Bhandar Scheme Implementation
The scheme was implemented with the effect of 1 July 2021. The state government has already had a database of 33 lakh women beneficiaries of social security schemes. The rest of the candidates need to apply for the scheme to get the benefits. The state government is going to transfer the benefits to the beneficiaries account from 1 September 2021. To get the benefits from September, contenders should apply for it & have a Laxmi Bhandar Card till 20 October 2021.

Objective of West Bangal Lakshmi Bhandar Scheme
WB Lakshmi Bhandar Scheme has been started by the government with the objective of providing basic income support to the female head of the families so that they can complete their basic needs. The government is going to give 12000/- rupees per year to the head of the family of SC/ST category (Rs. 1000/- per month) & 6000/- rupees per year to the head of the family of general category.
Budget of the scheme
Keeping in mind that the monthly average expenditure consumption of West Bengal households is Rs. 5,249, the government has decided to provide assistance of Rs. 1000/- to SC/ST & Rs. 500/- to general category women beneficiaries. To do so the government has decided to allocate a budget of Rs.12,900 Crores every year.
Scheme Benefits
- Financial assistance will be given to the female head of the families
- SC/ST category female heads will be included in it & General category women heads also who meet the eligibility conditions.
- 1.6 crore households will be benefited under this scheme
- Rs. 500/- per month will be given to the General category women beneficiary & Rs. 1000/- per month will be given to the SC/ST category women beneficiary
- Benefits will be directly transfer to the bank account of the beneficiaries
- This scheme will cover 10% to 20% of the monthly expenditure of the beneficiaries
- This scheme will boost the rural and urban economies
- If you have a permanent job in the private and government sector, you are not eligible to get benefits under this scheme
- Contenders should have Laxmi Bhandar card to get the benefits
Eligibility criteria
- Applicant must be a permanent resident of West Bengal state
- Age of the applicant should be in between 25 to 60 years
- Contenders belongs to SC/ST category can apply
- If you have a permanent job in the private and government sector, you are not eligible to get benefits under this scheme
- General category candidates may also apply except:
- Those having at least one tax-paying member
- Owning land more than 2 hectare
